The hair consists of 5 chemical elements:
Carbon
Oxygen
Nitrogen
Hydrogen
Sulphur
These elements combine to create amino acids, the building blocks for keratin, which in turn forms peptic spirals.
The Alpha-Helix is a polypeptide chain, or a right turning spiral. The Helix spirals form Protofibrilles. These cross connections, such as sulphur-bonds, are very important for chemical processes like permanent waves and straightening solutions. Conversely, hydroxide-bonds and salt-bonds are important for styling processes like a blow dry or an iron.
